Elizabeth gets quoted in the newspaper!

I just looked at our choir blog and found this entry from our choir director about our upcoming concert. My sister, Elizabeth, gets a shout out in the article -"Woohoo" (as she would say)!!! I've also included some pics of us singing in last year's concert. -Enjoy...

Halloween Parade at School

Since we can't bring weapons of any kind or wear masks to school, this is the look we went for today at the Halloween Parade. Devin's scowling for added visual effect. What a sport! (It was my first attempt at Halloween face painting)

Ellie (Roger's sister who teaches the other 5th grade class at my school) and I lead our classes through the school during the Halloween Parade.

Devin LOVES this costume! We're not sure why...but as long as he's thrilled, we're thrilled. Happy Haunting Devin!

Singing in the Tabernacle

Some of my family and I are 11 of 364 women in a choir called "We Also Sing." We are women who come from Ephraim to Logan. Many of us are wives and mothers. Some of us are divorced, widowed, single. We are housewives, employers, employees and students. Some of us are rich and struggling, others are poor and struggling. We laugh, we cry, we try to make a difference. Oh, and... We Also Sing. This is a picture of our choir from last year, so we're all in there...somewhere! Ariel was also in the choir last year.

In this choir, I have the folloing relatives: Eryn, Mom, Amy, Elizabeth, Cindy, Shelby, Ellie, Ruth (sisters in-law) and Mollie & Polly from our book club (that makes them sort of related). This is the CD cover of our latest recording. Our concert is this Saturday, Nov. 1st in the Tabernacle. We have two concerts, one at 5:30 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m. I have been in this choir for the last 3 years and I love every minute of it! Our concerts are free, but you need tickets to get in. If you have time to come to one of the shows on Saturday, we'd love to see you there! For ticket info, check the Temple Square Events link at http://www.lds.org/events/info/0,8197,726-1-676,00.html

Celebrating Kayla's 9th Birthday at Leatherby's

Our Book Club Sees The Secret Life of Bees

One of our all time favorite books came out on film this month so we had to go check it out together. We were pleasantly surprised. The movie stayed pretty true to the book. Now we're looking forward to seeing Marley and Me in November and Twilight on December 12!!! (P.S. I dressed in yellow and black as a tribute to the bees. ; ))

Fun, Fun, Fun Week at School

Wow!!! We had so much going on at school this week! We thought you might like to have a little peek.
1) Devin's class went on a field trip to This is the Place State Park and The Daughters of Utah Pioneer Museum because they study about Utah History in 4th grade.
2) Red Ribbon Week brought in a fun Karaoke Assembly for the kids to experience having fun with a "natural high."
3) Every year at this time I let my 5th graders take a couple of afternoons to do an extensive building and decorating project of Haunted Houses. They love it and look forward to being in 5th grade just to do this!
4) The PTA paid for movie tickets to High School Musical 3 for each student attending Liberty. They rented a movie theater at Jordan Commons on opening night! The kids had a blast. This was the culminating activity for Red Ribbon Week.

"Wild Thing"

One of the fun things we did on our mini vaction to Logan was to go bowling at the Fun Park. A few of Devin's turns had me wondering...how can one someone be so "wild" and still knock any of the pins down???

The white box with the red slash through it at the end of the first video shows that Devin got a spare...which means the first ball in that frame missed all of the pins...WITH THE GUTTER RAILS UP! I wish I had caught that on video, because he was trying some kind of fancy turn/spin just before releasing the ball and the ball ended up bouncing over the rail and getting stuck halfway down the gutter!!!

Photo Booth Moment

Can you believe we've almost been married for 10 years and we've never taken our picture together in a photo booth? Just to prove that we're photo booth handicapped, I'm going to share the funny thing that happened while we were learning the ins and outs of photo booth picture taking. After we both finally squeezed on to the little seat in the booth we hit the "go" button to proceed with taking our picture. After we scanned through all of the options, we saw a bright yellow oval circle appear on the screen inside the booth. The directions read, "Position your faces together in the center of the oval for best picture results." Well...we barely fit in the dang booth together at the same time! Now we thought we had to slide back and up and down in the seat to get our faces to line up in the center of the oval? There wasn't enough room for that kind of manuvering, but we were giving it our best shot. I was about to give up when I looked down and saw some up and down arrows next to the "go" button. I looked back up at the screen and saw that we had missed some fine print on the screen that read, "Use the up and down arrows to adjust the oval." Ahhh...that made the picture taking much easier!!! ~True story ; )

S'mores Anyone?

Last Wed. night we were all anxious to kick off our 4-day U.E.A. weekend. So we put on our sweatshirts and hoodies and headed out back to get the holiday started with an evening of back yard S'mores. Roger has a small metal table we often use for dutch oven cooking and occasional mini fires on the patio. We had originally planned to have a family camp-out in the back yard to kick off our holiday weekend but this was the Wednesday after the surprise snowfall, and it was much too cold in the night time to camp out. After Roger got a rip-roarin' fire going, we enjoyed a toasty-warm, family visit around the "campfire." The kids were only a little disappointed. When we broke out the fixins for S'mores the drooping smiles perked up. There was an incredible moon that night, which added to the ambiance, and Eryn got some cool pics of it!

Ariel's Senior Picture

Ariel is a Senior in High School this year. We think this is a beautiful picture of her and we'd like to share it with you too. These dang kids grow up so fast!!! It seems like just yesterday when we met for the first time at her baptism when she was only 8 years old! She'll be 18 in 5 more days. YIKES!!! Happy birthday "Aieeo!"

Devin's Star Spangled Banner

Not to be out done by his 3 year old cousin, Ben who has learned how to recite The Pledge of Allegiance (see "Me and My Gang to view Ben's Pledge), Devin wanted to share his patriotic talent of singing The Star Spangled Banner. Enjoy...

October Suprise

This slide show is brought to you by "Old Man Winter." Yes...this is the day after we put up our Halloween decorations. Are you in the Christmas spirit yet? No...well just take a moment!

Witch-a-Palooza

Our choir director for "We Also Sing" told us about a show she was doing at Gardner Village. I decided to get tickets for the Saturday matinee for Roger and I. We had a great time! The dinner was delicious and the entertainment was great! Not too long into the "dinner music" Merrilee (our choir director) spotted Roger and I at a table in the farthest back corner of the room. During a little break between numbers she came down from the stage and over to our table to chat with us. What a kind thing for her to do. Then she asked Roger if he would help her with a number coming up in the show. He didn't hesitate to say yes! She had him lead a group of four guys on stage to lead the crowd in "Y M C A!" What a hoot. Check out is sexy white hard hat in the following slide show.

I'm so proud of my husband! He was one of about 10 guys in the whole crowd of 125 or so women and he didn't act one bit embarassed to get up on stage and ham it up.
We must have missed the dress up memo because half of the crowd there was dressed up as witches. I put a few pics of them in the slide show for kicks and giggles.

What a fun show with lots of audience participation, conga lines, swing dancing, singing and cheering.

We walked around Gardner Village to enjoy the Halloween spirt after the show.
